FACE PALM -.-
Okay, so today(if you are Canadian and are of age to vote) was a very important day. Now it is not my place to make people vote, but I believe that you have no right to complaine if you dont vote. If you give up that right you give up all rights to be dissapointed with our government or with this country’s leader, thats just the way it is. Now that being said if you blindly going into a voting station closing your eyes and randomly choosing a party is borderline retarded, although I suppose it is better then not voting at all. This being said I have a friend who I spoke to today who did just this. But the party she ended up voting for goes against pretty much everything she “believes in”. I think its just so stupid! She claimed that she doesn’t really pay attention to news and politics so she picked the one that she like a couple years back, now keep in mind this is the first time there has been an election that we have been able to vote in, so really her reason as to why she chose to vote conservative was completely irrelevant. Really the time it would have taken her to educate her self in the different parties would have maybe taken like 30 minutes, even just to google it for Christ sakes. When I questioned her choice she replied with ” would you have rather me voted liberal?”
YES YES A MILLION TIMES YES!!!!!!!!
I dont fully agree with the liberals, to be honest no one party makes me 100% happy, but for me NDP is pretty damn close to my beliefs. She completely wasted her vote and her say in who runs this country and how they run it. All because she couldn’t take the time to educate herself. Its instances like this that give the young vote a bad name. This being said I do think that parties should defiantly make the time to appeal to the youth vote so that stupid shit like this doesn’t happen.
It just drives me right up the wall that people choose to remain ignorant to the things happening around them, this is our country and we arnt getting any younger, the things that are being debated in politics right now like heath care, will soon become our problems. Young adults of Canada need to start realizing that this is real life and that we need to take action to make this country one that we want to live in.
